Sixpence with Wedding Poem and Gift Packaging

While the traditional poem suggests putting a "sixpence in her shoe," the linen pouch can also be held or incorporated into the bride's bouquet. The most common sixpence coins were minted from 1953 to 1967 and feature Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The reverse depicts four crossed sprigs, representing the four member former kingdoms of the United Kingdom: the Tudor rose of England, leek for Wales, thistle for Scotland, and shamrock for Ireland. Each sixpence coin has been carefully hand cleaned and lightly polished so as not to destroy the natural patina. Similar to coin shown (size = larger than penny / smaller than nickel). Makes a wonderful wedding keepsake!
