Sixpence with Wedding Poem and Gift Packaging

Please tell us your year preference and we will try to accommodate your choice (will depend on current stock).

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue . . . and a silver sixpence in her shoe. The sixpence coin is considered a good luck wedding symbol to bring prosperity, love and happiness to the happy couple. We offer the ability to select a specific year - a wonderful personal touch which can represent a special year in your family's history, wedding year or a birth year (mother, father, grandmother or grandfather). For older sixpence coins, please visit our Etsy shop HERE.

While the traditional poem suggests putting a "sixpence in her shoe," the linen pouch can also be held or incorporated into the bride's bouquet. Then, after the wedding, the sixpence coin can be framed with one of our DIY CoinArt Kits. We personalize the poem for the bride by including the first name, wedding date and color options for the border and heart. Comes in a Kraft gift box with a beautiful heirloom thread ribbon bow.

The most common sixpence coins were minted from 1953 to 1967 and feature Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The reverse depicts four crossed sprigs, representing the four member former kingdoms of the United Kingdom: the Tudor rose of England, leek for Wales, thistle for Scotland, and shamrock for Ireland. Each sixpence coin has been carefully hand cleaned and lightly polished so as not to destroy the natural patina. Similar to coin shown (size = larger than penny / smaller than nickel). Makes a wonderful wedding keepsake!
